Great Weekend for the “Meeting Of Styles”

A couple of weekends ago Houston had the opportunity to host the “Meeting of Styles” in the warehouse district. MOS is a world renowned graffiti event held annually in different parts of the world. Artist from all over  travel to selected locations to create the finest of graffiti. I was given the opportunity to be a part of this event a 2nd year in a row, and better believe I was glad to participate. This event took place at 3 separate locations including the Houston’s famous Wall of Fame over a span of 3 days. People from the community had the chance to witness a full blown Graffiti festival going on in the heart of the city.  Especially that Graffiti is known to be taboo and even considered illegal if not asked for the proper consent from owners. Here are a few photos that my lady was able to capture over the weekend. Also a huge thanks to everyone who put in work for this awesome project. Peace, Love and Cheech Marin! Empire Jerk and …

“Una Manana en Cuautepec”

I am finally getting around to add another mini project from this summer. Me and my lady really enjoyed the hospitality we experienced in Cuautepec, Mexico City. Cuautepec is in the outskirts of Mexico City, and when I say its in the outskirts I mean its going up into the mountains made up of little homes and streets leading straight to the top. We ended up running into a good friend of ours while in the city and she allowed us to stay at her families house. Her aunt gave me the go to be able to paint an old corrugated fence they had on the side of the of house. They mentioned that the fence had been painted several times by some of the up and coming graffiti writers there in the town. Here are some great detail shots of that morning. We had a few visitors pass by and say hello. Enjoy!

“Mi Matamoros Querido”

My lady and I decided to take a month long vaction to Mexico this summer. It’s always a great feeling coming down to the mother land. We are officially on day 15 of 31 and we have had a blast so far. Eating tacos, tortas, and esquites and other Mexican delicacies is all we have been doing these 2 weeks,  aside from all the walking a site seeing. I managed to score a wall in Izucar after looking and asking owners, and I was able to get permission from a barber to let me paint his gate. Once we got the OK me and the wife started looking for some paint. The town has a couple of paint sotores, but their spray paint  is not nearly as good as the brands that I am use to and they are way more watery than the paint that I like. I mean I would much rather some rustos or krylon over comex anyday!. I managed to get a connect by contacting a cousin of mine that has …

Out in La Porte

I had the pleasure of meeting a lovely couple from Belgium. I was actually on my way to pick some painting’s up where we recently held an art exhibition at East End Gallery. It was a group show with some of Houston’s heavy hitters here in the art scene. As I walked out to the car I hear a voice call my name. “Nacho”, I turn and see a couple walking towards me. They were the most delighted couple. Really humble and down to earth. They really seemed to be into my work and were excited to here about the next show coming up. They also mentioned to me that I had given them some stickers the day before at the event (good way for them to remember me). So a couple of months have past now and Carine has gotten back in contact with me. This time it was about getting work done at her house! How exciting for someone to want me to go paint some of my own work onto there walls …

In Action!

Good Sunday morning! Me and my lady were able to get an early start. We started off by having coffee and pancakes with our good friend Rodriguez. He had invited us a couple of days ago; originally it was supposed to be 4 of us but my other homie wasn’t able to make it due to his long hours of work. We started by going down the street on main st. over to one of our favorite local eateries Natachees. Pancakes and coffee was our choice of breakfast. As we ate, we talked about what we have been up to these past few days. All in all breakfast was amazing. Shortly after we split ways and headed over to Memorial Park Arboretum to have a family shoot for about an hour. The family was very nice and fun, you can definitely tell there is never a dull moment with them! They wanted to incorporate there 2 huge dogs in the family session, so you can image how chaotic it got really quickly. Although we had …

Fun day on Main street!

So we set out to conquer the walls! INS Collective decided to take a break from the studio and breath in the fresh air mother nature has brought to us this past Saturday. Creativity at its finest, creating nothing but the finest  graffiti in the streets of Houston is what we do. Empire, Jerk, Age (Gear), Nacho (Myself), Meenr, and Kato is the line up. We were not sure if the first spot was going to be available, so we just sat around twiddling our thumbs for about an hour. Finally when we got the no go, Seconds after we decided to relocate. We were not taking no for an answer. So we headed down the street to our good friend/crew mate Weah’s spot on Main st. Great location right dead smack in the middle of Mid-town. This location can be seen off the metro rail, so its in a high traffic area. As so soon as I got to the wall, inspiration flowed through my veins. Normally I have a sketch in hand, …

Expose art show

Hello, I had the pleasure of displaying some of my recent works with some of the best street artist in Houston! The show was a great turn out, tons of people came in like an avalanche. If you missed this one there will be more to come. I hope you enjoy these photograph’s, my wife Paty Lennon went ahead and took a few photographs of some of the paintings I had hung up for the show. I have decided to bring in more color to my life. I normally paint more color out on the streets, but this time around I wanted to bring the color home. I am really pleased of the outcome, my work stands out even more and have received a lot more feedback than normal. One thing that has always stuck with me is making my own canvas’s or re-using a lot of old material. Every once and a while I scrounge up some change a buy some wood to make a frame. I believe that it brings more meaning to …

Happy New Year!

Hello Everyone and there mothers! I decided to end the year with a nice piece. I had given a ring to my friend Daniel to see if he had any available walls to paint. Of course he came through! I’ve actually been wanting to paint this spot for long time. Time has finally permitted for me to release the creativity that has been built up for a little while. Well I hope that you enjoy this new piece!
